Meet Michael Myers and Walk Through A Free Haunted Maze at The Buena Vista Haunt

Check out our video coverage of The Buena Vista Haunt here!

If you don’t know about Burbank’s home haunts, you’re missing out. This town treats October like a month-long block party. Every year, dozens of yard displays pop up that look like full blown movie sets. These are seriously the most intricate and ambitious yard displays you have ever seen – many include walk through mazes and scare actors. If you’re looking for something to do: pick a night, stack a route, and go explore. It’s free, and it feels like Halloween every single night. Start here. Trust me.

The Buena Vista Haunt opened on the fall equinox, September 22, and it goes hard through early November. You’ll find it at 2038 N Buena Vista St, Burbank, glowing like a jack-o’-lantern beacon from 7–10 pm nightly. The display keeps expanding every year, with three themed sections, live performers, and a steady crowd of neighbors doing that “we were just going to peek for five minutes” shuffle that somehow lasts an hour. It’s also completely ADA accessible, so bring everyone.

Say hi to the mastermind: Diego Linares. He builds, paints, wires, and then puts on the mask and stalks the sidewalk as either Jason Voorhees or Michael Myers, depending on the night. You can grab photos, exchange a thumbs-up, and then immediately pretend you weren’t scared even a little. The man commits. Proof’s all over the feed and reels. And he’s there every single night.

What you’ll see: an unbelievable color palette, dozens of glowing jack-o’-lanterns, graves, skeletons, and other decorations, nearly all of which are hand made throughout the year by Diego. Once you’re done taking in the insane yard display, you can enter a walk-through path loaded with props, fog, and clever effects (and depending on the night – scare actors). It’s all-ages by design—Diego treats kids like VIPs, with friendly interactions, stickers, and candy—while still giving grown-ups that “did something just move behind me” tingle. It’s one of those haunts where you catch new details on lap two, then pretend you only did one lap so you look cool.

Plan your night right. Hit Buena Vista Haunt at 7, then build a mini-crawl with the rest of Burbank’s heavy hitters using the Halloween in Burbank map. Save it; it’s the best way to turn a random Tuesday into October 31. And if you want updates straight from the source, follow Diego at @the_buena_vista_haunt. See you on the sidewalk.
